Irish athlete Ray Flynn speaks about the 1983 Dublin Straight Mile in this archived footage

Another day, another archived video from RTE Sport.

This time we have an interview with one mile legend, Ray Flynn - still the Irish holder of the one mile record.

In this video, Ray talks about the importance of the 1983 Dublin Straight Mile in putting Dublin on the International athletics map. He compares what it’s like to run a mile road race vs on track, his rivalry with his competitors including Eamonn Coghlan and ultimately predicts the race winner.

Thanks to RTE Sport for providing us with this archived footage.

As previously announced, we're privileged to have Eamonn Coghlan return to host the Griffith Avenue Mile as our official guest of honour and race starter, on the same course as he and Ray Flynn ran in 1983. It will be a day to remember for all!

For those interested in participating in either the fun run or timed run, tickets are still available at www.GriffithAvenueMile.ie/register for a limited time.

Follow us on Twitter and Facebook for more archived footage which we will be releasing in the next few days.
