Griffith Avenue Mile Returns This September
Ireland’s Premier One Mile Race Takes Place on 22 September

Monday 20th May - The 2024 Griffith Avenue Mile, Ireland’s premier one mile road race, will return to the capital on Sunday September 22 2024*. Over 1,800 people, of all abilities will participate in this year's event, running, jogging or walking down the iconic tree lined Griffith Avenue. Anyone interested in participating can pre-register for the event at www.GriffithAvenueMile.ie

The Griffith Avenue Mile is organised and run by a team of local volunteers, many of whom are associated with Marino Athletics Club and since returning in 2019 it has fast become one of Ireland’s most popular running events. The 2024 race is once again kindly supported by Dublin City University, Dublin City Council and many other great sponsors. Dublin City University will host a special post race event at their All Hallows campus featuring entertainment, a food festival, prize giving and much more.

Official race ambassador and former 5,000m world champion and indoor mile world record holder Eamonn Coghlan said, “The Mile is a special distance for running because it is both challenging and inclusive. People of all abilities can test themselves, at their own pace, or simply enjoy a pleasant walk along the beautiful tree lined avenue. For competitive runners, there is no better event to assess your middle distance speed and power. Now, 70 years on from Sir Roger Bannister’s historic first ever sub four mile, we might just see that magical barrier broken on Griffith Avenue in 2024.”

Mark Rasdale, Race Director said ”The Griffith Avenue Mile is a wonderful community event. As anyone who has participated in previous races will attest to, the participants get huge support from fans lining the Avenue and there is a wonderful festival atmosphere at the post race party. We are delighted to be returning in 2024 and look forward to making sure it is the biggest and best event yet.”

Further details about the Griffith Avenue Mile 2024 will be revealed in due course, including information about the post event party and a new charity initiative.

The Griffith Avenue Mile is kindly sponsored by Dublin City Council, Dublin City University, 123.ie, C&T Superstore, GS Infra, Louis Copeland & Sons, Marino Institute of Education, Movehome Dublin & The Goose Tavern.
